Spring Jolly - Saturday 20th May 2006 Each year we hire a coach and take a leisurely tour of some of the region’s literary heritage with plenty of stops for drinks and cakes. We try to have a relaxing day structured around a little literary interest and somewhere nice to eat. This year’s tour, starting at Norwich station and picking up at Bury-St-Edmunds station, took in Long Melford via Bradfield Woods (Angus Wilson), Cockfield, (Robert Louis Stevenson) and a pub lunch in Monks Eleigh. It also included a stop at a member's house for coffee and a tea shop.
A band of merry travellers on their way! John Worrall outlines the itinerary.

At Cockfield, where Robert Louis Stevenson stayed briefly in his twenties.
Stopping for coffee at the home of Frances and Roland Bee near Thorpe Morieux.
