EAW at The Salon
Writers Centre Norwich has been hosting a monthly salon for writers, readers and all who love books for a couple of years now. The salon is held in the bar of the Norwich Arts Centre on St Benedicts Street, Norwich, on the first Tuesday of each month. People start to gather there at about 7 pm, and at 7.30 or so Sam Ruddock of WCN introduces whoever is featured that month. On Tuesday 6 March East Anglian Writers will be the feature. Our presentation will kick off with Vicky Manthorpe, who'll give a very brief rundown of EAW's history. Then four members who between them cover a multitude of writing disciplines - Sheridan Winn (children's author and freelance journalist), Sarah Passingham (short stories, libretti, non-fiction, memoir), Hugh Aldersey-Williams (popular science, design), Rachel Hore (adult fiction) and Anthony Thwaite (poet, literary anthologist) - will talk a little bit about their work and their association with EAW. Finally, Acting Chair Alison Pressley will give a taste of what's in store for the future of EAW.
So please come along and, if you're already a member, listen to fellow members and perhaps contribute a comment or question of your own. If you're not yet a member, we'll have membership application forms at the ready on the night!

Charles Christian would like to introduce EAW members to this new webzine for lovers of urban fantasy.

New genre webzine for urban fantasy lovers open to submissions of flash fiction A new webzine for fans of the urban fantasy genre, called Urban Fantasist, has just been launched by sf&f author Charles Christian and carries news, interviews, book reviews and blog postings about urban fantasy writing, art and photography. One of the regular features will be a new flash fiction story published every Friday fortnight selected from submissions to the zine. Called TFi Flash Fortnightly, pieces must be no more than 1000 words on an urban fantasy, genre-type theme - see
www.urbanfantasist.com for more details. Another regular column will be Eleven Questions, an offbeat interview with an urban fantasy or sci fi personality answering questions such as their preferred time travel destinations and the mechanics of their craft.
