NSPIRED BY FILM - FREE POETRY WORKSHOPS AND COMPETITION
These workshops are being offered as part of the Lumière project which poet Sue Burge is working on and for which she has received an Arts Council grant. As well as being a poet, Sue is also a creative writing tutor and film studies lecturer and is in the process of writing a collection of poetry which celebrates the cinematic and literary legacy of Paris. The Inspired by Film workshops aim to broaden the audience for both film and poetry. Workshop participants will be asked to respond poetically to film clips. No previous experience of poetry is necessary as exercises will help participants to create fresh and original poetry in response to the chosen clips. Please note you can only attend one workshop from the following:
Monday, 10th October 2016, 6-8.30pm — The Meeting Room, Picturehouse, St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge
Supported by the Picturehouse Cinema, Cambridge
Saturday, 15th October 2016, 2-4.30pm — The Community Room, Crouch End Picturehouse, 165 Tottenham Lane, London N8 9BY

Saturday, 5th November 2016, 2-4.30pm — The Education Suite, Cinema City, St Andrew’s Street, Norwich

There is no charge for these poetry workshops, but places are limited so please contact Sue on firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
All participants will be invited to send an entry, free of charge, to an Inspired by Film Poetry Competition. This will be judged by Maura Dooley and Heidi Williamson.
The final event of the Lumière project will be an Open Mic session in the Picturehouse Bar, Cambridge on Monday, 30th January 2017 from 7pm. The evening will begin with an opportunity to hear some of the poems Sue has written as a result of the project, followed by an opportunity for winning and shortlisted competition entrants to read their work.
