Biography

David R Wright is a non-fiction author who lives with his wife [and co-author] Jill, in Mulbarton, six miles south of Norwich.
They have written 20 non-fiction books for 7 publishers, 4 discs for WWF, hundreds of encyclopaedia entries [OUP, Encarta, Kingfisher], and over 200 articles in journals and magazines [5 in 'The Author'].

David is a Geography graduate of Cambridge Uni, and has an MA from London Uni. He taught in schools in Stevenage and in Pennsylvania, and was a lecturer at Uni of East Anglia for 13 years, before going freelance. His current research interests are in world maps and international textbook research.

Philip's Children's Atlas [11th edition 2005] has sold over a million copies worldwide, with co-editions in USA, Oz, India, Norway, Greece and Japan. Several of their books are illustrated with their own photos, and 27 publishers have used some of their 12000 transparencies from 100 countries.

David likes visiting schools: he answers questions and shares ideas about non-fiction writing with children and teenagers aged 7 to 17. His enthusiasms include walking, railways, photography, philately, hymns, and world travel. He also has several unpublished books - some on paper, others still in his head.
