Biography
John Gordon was born in Jarrow-on-Tyne in 1925. As a child he moved
with his family to Wisbech where his father was a teacher. During
the war he joined the Royal Navy from Wisbech Grammar School on
Boxing Day 1943. He served on a minesweeper, destroyers and a
cruiser. After the war he became a journalist and worked on
newspapers in Wisbech, Bury St Edmunds, Plymouth and ended his
journalistic career with the Eastern Daily Press in Norwich where he
and his wife Sylvia live. They have two grown-up children.
His first book, The Giant under the Snow, which was well received
and was published in America and Japan, is to be reissued by Orion
in April 2006.
