Biography

Margaret (ne้ Bassett) was born in Surrey, England where, as Margaret Austin, she was at school. Originally trained as a teacher (University of Exeter) she later gained a first-class degree in philosophy and critical theory of literature from the University of East Anglia, and a doctorate in philosophy from University College London. She has taught in schools, in university groups, and in the 'University of the Third Age'.  She lives in Heacham, Norfolk, and is currently a Visiting Research Fellow in the School of Economic and Social Studies at the University of East Anglia. She also has a base in London.

An Agony Aunt for two years on Radio Norfolk's Norfolk Airline during the period it won the Sony Award, she enjoys getting away from the keyboard and text books into lecturing, meeting people, making new contacts,  going to parties, dancing, dining and drinking. Married to a busy healthcare professional, she has two self-directed grown children with their own lively families.

Her interest in seeing graphology recognised as a science is long-standing. She was a founder member of the British Institute of Graphologists, a member of its Examination Board and has served as its Research Officer.

While her main commitment is to independent research in the social application of philosophy, a couple of novels lie in draft in her computer, and revisiting these is becoming quite a temptation.
