History:

Biography:

I was a primary school headteacher for over 20 years and took early retirement partly because I had become disenchanted, but largely because I wanted to spend more time writing. Two years later my wife and I bought a school, which we have now been running for 11 years. My wife is the Head and I take care of the finance and administration. I had my first paid and published freelance article in the 1960s and have been writing ever since. Over the years I have written a great many articles on a variety of topics for a wide range of magazines. Although I tend to specialise on educational management and safety, basically I will write on any topic that I am asked to write about. Recently I have worked on a series of atlases about natural and man-made wonders, ancient history, Native North Americans and the American Civil War. I have been a member of the Society of Authors for a number of years and have served two terms on the committee of the Educational Writers Group. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists, the London Press Club, the National Association of Writers in Education, the International Travel Writers’ Alliance and various other groups.
