Biography
Richard taught for
nine years in primary schools in Suffolk and Cambridgeshire
before being appointed Advisory Teacher for English in
Leicestershire - where he began his writing career with the
publications of two multicultural anthologies for schools. He
moved to Huntingdon to become Senior Advisory Teacher for
Reading and Language, and after many years in post he became a
free lance teacher trainer, consultant and writer. In 1992 he
was appointed one of the two General Editors of Cambridge
Reading, a major resource for the teaching of reading in primary
schools in Britain and worldwide, a position he held for five
years.
Many of his works
have been translated and adapted for the international
market, and the Golden Armour series of fantasy novels have
been translated into German, Czech and Portuguese.
Richard has moved
between writing teaching materials for pupils and teachers to
the writing of novels for the commercial market. He has also
served on judging panels for children's writing competitions.
He
now writes poetry for adults and teaches poetry writing classes
privately and as a Panel Tutor for Cambridge Unversity's Institute
of Continuing Education.
