Sarah Bower spent many years working as human resources manager for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. She became a full time writer after completing her MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. She has published short fiction and non-fiction in magazines including Spiked, MsLexia and QWF, and regularly writes on business matters for British Industry and The Manufacturer. As well as being a Society of Authors member and member of EAW, she is also a founder member of Writers Without Walls, whose members exchange work for critical comment from as far afield as Heidelberg, Buenos Aires and Queensland, as well as meeting regularly in Norwich.

Sarah Bower's first novel, 'The Needle in the Blood',  tale of sexual obsession and the redeeming power of love set against the backdrop of the making of the Bayeux Tapestry, will be published by 2006 Small Publisher of the Year, Snowbooks, in Spring 2007

She is currently working on a second with a 15th century setting. She would also love somebody to take her up on a proposal to write a non-fiction book about English cricket’s Barmy Army of which she is a proud, if occasional, member.

Sarah won the 2005 Cafe Writers Short Story Competition with her story The Archaeology of Ironing. A second story, The Wisdom of Cakes, was highly commended. The winning story and the judge's remarks can be seen on the Cafe Writers website
